These guidelines are effective January 1, 2021 and are subject to change. These guidelines may become more or less restrictive as the season continues. If there are any questions regarding these guidelines, contact a Board Member.
The LSGSA has established the following recommendations that will be in place for the 2021 spring/summer season. Our goal is to provide a safe environment at Legacy Park and to comply with Jackson County Recovery Plan Phase 2.5 and reopening guidelines.
All individuals must wear a mask when entering, exiting, and moving about Legacy Park. These masks must remain on when on Legacy Park grounds, regardless of whether social distancing requirements are being met. Masking requirements apply to parents, coaches, players, and spectators. Players may be unmasked when they are on the field of play only.
Bleachers will be removed from all fields to prevent public usage.
Spectators sitting on the sidelines must social distance.
Seating in the park is completely open around the fields. LSGSA requires that spectators bring their own chairs to the ballpark to use around the facility.
TEAM BENCHES (DUGOUTS):
LSGSA will display signage at each bench to encourage social distancing.
LSGSA will provide hand sanitizer for players and team staff. Parents are also encouraged to provide for their own children.
Team benches and bat racks will be sanitized between every two games.
Teams are required to remove team trash at the conclusion of games.
Players should use their own gloves, helmets, and bats as much as possible.
Use of dugouts is permitted during games only.
No team or player handshakes, team or player high fives.
The pre-game greeting at home plate should be represented by one coach from each team and the umpires, all distanced 6 feet apart. No players are allowed at plate meeting.
The defensive team is responsible to provide all softballs used in their half inning. Umpires shall not handle softballs. Teams need to be prepared to put multiple softballs in play (to account for foul balls) to keep the game going forward.
Anyone who chooses to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as masks, glasses, or gloves can do so any time and for players, at any position (including pitcher).
Players are encouraged to have their own set of anti-bacterial wipes and hand sanitizer to disinfect shared playing equipment and clean hands between innings.
LSGSA recommend teams to tip their helmets or glove hand to honor the competition with their opponent after a game from across the field. NO HANDSHAKE lines will be allowed. Please do not stand on the foul line to make this sportsmanlike gesture. We want to preserve the foul line for the next game.
Coaches are responsible for ensuring social distancing is maintained between players as much as possible. This means additional spacing between players while playing catch, changing drills so that players remain spaced out, no congregating of players while waiting to bat..
Team water coolers area not permitted. Players use their own waters coolers.
No gum or sunflower seeds in the dugout.
Players may bring their own snacks to consume during and after practice or games. No shared/communal snacks.
Additional time will built in to the schedule for teams to exit the ballpark.
Display “closed” signs on Urinals or Toilets to create spacing in order to accommodate social distancing between stalls.
Limit the number of people allowed in the restroom. One person per toilet/urinal.
Restrooms will be sanitized once per day based upon minimum CDC Standard;
Entry and Exit door handles
Faucets, sinks, hand dryers and Toilet Paper dispensers
